Privacy policy
Burger Truck collects and processes user data to operate the game, provide age-appropriate features, support multiplayer, and, when you choose, provide voice chat and gameplay analytics. This policy explains what information Swintwood and the services used by the game handle, why it is used, how long it is kept, and how to request deletion. Processing includes information used temporarily during play, even when the game does not save a permanent copy.
To request deletion, email [email protected] (contact [at] swintwood [dot] com), with the subject “Burger Truck data deletion.” See Request access or deletion below for the information to include and how we handle your request.
Information the game uses
Progress and preferences
The game saves completed-job progress and control settings on your device, along with your voice-chat preference. Local diagnostic logs can include device, performance, error, and connection information used to troubleshoot the game. Your device or store platform may separately provide backup and diagnostic services under its own settings and policy.
Optional gameplay analytics
On Quest, gameplay data sharing is off by default. Verified adult Meta accounts receive an optional choice before the main menu on first launch. Accepting or declining is remembered, and can be changed in Options → Gameplay data. Sharing is unavailable for child, teen, or unverified accounts; the current simple opt-in does not provide a separate parental or age-appropriate consent process. This does not restrict gameplay. When enabled, Burger Truck sends GameAnalytics a randomly generated app identifier, session identifiers, device and game-version information, and events about active playtime, first-order progress, completed or abandoned orders, Work days, control and game modes, loading, errors, and return visits. Swintwood uses these reports to understand where players encounter problems and improve the game. GameAnalytics also receives the IP address used to connect to its service.
These events do not contain your Meta account identifier, name, email, age category, microphone audio, hand or headset poses, or room scans. A limited queue is stored on your device while an upload is pending. Turning sharing off stops new analytics collection and uploads and clears the queue and random identifier from the running game. Clearing their saved device copy can finish during a later successful save or shutdown. The game retains your consent choice so it can honor it on later launches. Turning sharing off does not automatically delete events already received by GameAnalytics. For help with access or deletion requests, use the contact information below.
Meta Platform data: User ID (USER_ID) and user age group (USER_AGE)
The Meta store edition requests User ID and User Age Group Platform permissions to use Meta's User Age Group API for the signed-in account. This is user-data processing. USER_ID is requested as Meta's required permission dependency for the age-group feature. The current game implementation calls the age-group API and receives the account's child, teen, or adult category; it does not make a separate user-profile or user-ID lookup or save a Meta user-ID value.
Burger Truck uses the returned age group (USER_AGE) to enable public online multiplayer and cloud-based shared-room alignment for verified teen or adult accounts, and to offer optional gameplay analytics only to verified adult accounts. Child accounts and accounts whose eligibility cannot be verified can still play solo or use Local mode on the same local network. The game does not request a date of birth, profile photo, or friends list.
Separately, Meta's SDK performs an entitlement check to verify access to the game. That check returns a success or failure result; it is not the purpose of the USER_ID permission request. Online play uses a separate EOS device-based identity, and optional analytics uses a separately generated random app identifier. The game does not send a Meta user-ID value or returned age category to EOS or GameAnalytics.
The game keeps the returned age category only in memory for the current session and clears it when the app enters the background. For an already-authorized multiplayer session, the game may keep a temporary authorization deadline in memory for up to 10 minutes to support recovery from a headset break. This deadline does not retain the age category or authorize a new online session. The game checks access again when it returns to the foreground. Neither the age category nor this temporary authorization is saved in game files, added to logs or analytics, or sent to other players, game hosts, or Epic Online Services.
Online play
Online multiplayer uses Epic Online Services (EOS) to create a device-based player identity, find games, and connect players. EOS processes identifiers, connection information such as IP addresses, and session information. Lobby information includes a session name, room code, game version, availability, and player identifiers. Public online lobbies are discoverable by other players; private rooms are joined by code or invitation. You do not need to enter a name or email address into Burger Truck to use this device-based sign-in.
During multiplayer, the host and the other player receive the gameplay state needed to share a kitchen, including your avatar's head, hand and fingertip positions, calibrated standing height, interactions, and room-alignment state. Network traffic may pass through EOS relay services.
Microphone and voice chat
Proximity voice chat is available in the Meta store edition and desktop editions. Microphone capture and voice playback are off by default. You can enable them in Pause → Options → Voice: On. This choice is saved on your device for later sessions. On Quest, the game requests microphone permission after you enable voice and another player is present. You can continue playing if you decline microphone access.
When voice is enabled and microphone access is allowed, the game captures and transmits audio during multiplayer so nearby players in the game can hear you. Audio passes through the game host and is briefly buffered for live playback. Burger Truck does not create or store voice recordings. Other players may independently record what they hear using their own software or device features.
You can turn voice off in the game or revoke microphone permission in your device settings. The game stops capture when voice is off, when it loses VR focus or enters the background, when there is no multiplayer partner, and when both players are aligned in the same physical room.
VR tracking and shared physical spaces
VR play uses headset and hand or controller tracking and play-area information to position you and support interaction. Shared-room play uses alignment points or, on supported devices, Meta's spatial-anchor and nearby-discovery services. These services process a shared spatial anchor and group identifiers to align both players with the same physical location. Anchor sharing and localization may use Meta's cloud services. In the Meta store edition, these cloud-based features are unavailable to child accounts and accounts whose eligibility cannot be verified. Local play remains available without cloud-based alignment.
The game's room-alignment feature does not request camera images or room-scene meshes. Ending a session stops the game's nearby discovery and releases its local anchor reference; this does not itself delete information retained by Meta's services.
User reports and moderation
Reports submitted through Meta's user-reporting service are encrypted and delivered to our developer inbox for review and resolution. Swintwood uses the report information to investigate reported behavior and address community safety concerns. We have not enabled the option to request a reporter's email address through this service.
Meta's reporting inbox stores reports, including archived reports, for up to 90 days and then automatically deletes them. This period describes Meta's inbox and does not apply to separate correspondence you send to our support address.
Support messages
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, such as a description of a problem, screenshots, or diagnostic logs. We use this information to respond, investigate issues, and handle your privacy requests. Please send only information relevant to your request.
Who receives information
Information is shared with the other player and game host as described above, with GameAnalytics if you enable gameplay data sharing, with Epic to provide online services, and with Meta when its VR platform, account-access, age-category, reporting, and shared-space services are used. Swintwood receives reports through Meta's reporting inbox as described above. Store and device providers separately process information about accounts, purchases, downloads, and use of their services. Their policies explain their own processing and available privacy controls:
Swintwood does not use the game's microphone audio or spatial tracking to serve advertising. We may disclose information when legally required to do so or when necessary to protect users and the security of our services.
Retention and your choices
Local progress and settings remain until removed or replaced on your device. Live voice buffers are temporary and are cleared when playback stops. Multiplayer state is used during the session; ending a game does not necessarily erase provider-held identifiers or service records. EOS identity and service records and Meta's shared-anchor information are subject to the applicable provider's retention and deletion processes.
We retain support correspondence for as long as needed to address the request, maintain necessary support records, and meet applicable legal obligations. You can play solo without using online multiplayer and manage spatial-data permissions through your device's settings. You can also turn voice chat off and manage microphone permission in your device's settings. Removing local game data may reset your progress; platform cloud backups may require separate removal.
Request access or deletion
All players, regardless of where they live, may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with Burger Truck by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Burger Truck privacy request.” There is no fee for requesting deletion. Tell us which platform you use and what you want deleted. Do not send passwords or payment details.
This mechanism covers Meta Platform data processed for Burger Truck, optional analytics, multiplayer service records, and support or moderation information associated with the game. Include a return email address and, if available, a relevant in-game or service identifier. Do not send your date of birth or identity documents unless we explain why additional verification is necessary. The game does not keep a persistent copy of your returned Meta age group or a separately retrieved Meta user ID for us to erase. We will explain when requested records are not held by Swintwood.
We may ask for the information reasonably needed to identify the relevant records and verify your request. We will delete information under our control and work with our service providers where applicable. We cannot directly remove files from your device or independently controlled platform-account data; we will explain any additional steps needed. If applicable law requires us to retain specific records, we will explain the reason and limit their use to that requirement.
Parents and guardians can use the same contact address for questions or requests concerning a child's information. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing, receive a portable copy of your information, or complain to your local data protection authority.
